AFRICAN DRUM & DANS TOUR (GH-05)
Join us for th EWE STUDY TOUR to Ghana, West Africa!
A unique chance for anyone who intends to study Ewe and African Culture drums & dance as well as study our dance history. Intensive workshops, tuition and performances in drum, dance and song with some of West- Africa's finest traditional musicians and dancers. Tuition is 3 hours daily. The classes are under guidance of Ghanian master musician Harold Kuenyefu-Kida.
Day 1: Welcome, Akwaaba! Welcome to Accra, capital of Ghana. Transfer to the Best Western Plus Accra Beach Hotel (4***).
Day 2: Accra, a African Metropolis After breakfast we will set off to discover Ghana’s capital Accra, a busy city with its own distinctive style. Among our stations: DuBois House, National Museum, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial, plus a brief visit to Makola market, Accra’s commerical heart. Our relaxation program for the afternoon begins at the pool or you may visit Labadi Beach. Overnight at African Royal Beach Hotel.
Day 3: On the way to Keta After breakfast, transfer to Keta a typical Ghanaian village in the Keta Lagoon district. On our way we make a stop in Tefle where we can take a look at handmade pots of ceramiek, a typical Ghanaian workmanship. In the evening surprising welcome at Vilca Bamba (2**).
Day 4: Beach day After breakfast it’s time to relax. We will take the opportunity to enjoy the warm Atlantic on the palm fringed beach at only 5 minutes walk from the hotel in Keta. In the afternoon we will enjoy a nice picknick on the beach. Overnight at Vilca Bamba.
Day 5: Drumming & Dancing Today it’s time to discover the truth about African culture especially cultural matters relating to the West African sub region. We will join a workshop with professional teachers of African drama, dancing and drumming. You can choose your own dances and instruments. Later in the afternoon you can relax at the beach or visit the local Keta market. Overnight at Vilca Bamba.
Day 6: More African Culture & Music After breakfast we have our second day of workshops about the discovery of the African culture. Learn more about culture, dancing and drumming from professional teachers with many years of experience. Later in the afternoon optional shopping in Keta village. Overnight at Vilca Bamba.
Day 7: The return In the morning deport for Accra where we will hunt for souvenirs. After a lunch at Country Kitchen, visit the famous coffin makers of Teshie Nungua and start preparations for the return flight.
